The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona January 29, 2003 Iser Nicholas Tibshraeny, 96, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2003 in Mesa, Arizona. Mr. TIBSHRAENY, owner of Tibshraeny Investment Co. was born in Baskinta, Lebanon. He moved to Arizona in 1910 and was a founder of the Mesa Country Club. He joined the Mesa Chamber of Commerce in 1928 and served as President of the Board in 1953. Mr. Tibshraeny served as the secretary of the Mesa Real Estate Association, and as President of the Mesa Parking Association. He was instrumental in building the Mesa YMCA, and served as vice president. He was a charter member of the Mesa Elks Lodge and the Mesa 20/30 Club. He became a member of the Mesa Masonic Lodge in 1927 and has been President of the Mesa Hiram Club, the Mesa Shrine Club, the Lions Club, and the Lebanon American Club of Arizona. He is a life member of the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children. Among his services to governmental bodies has been that as commissioner of the Federal Housing Authority of Mesa, a member of the Mayor's Safety Committee, and a member of the Mesa Adjustment Board. During World War II, he led the war bond drive in the northwest quarter of the city and his area usually had the top sales total in each drive. He joined St. Mark's Episcopal Church in 1920 and served as treasurer for 13 years. He was co-chairman of the building program which located the church at 322 N. Horne in 1963. Mr. Tibshraeny was a faithful, active, and lifetime member of the Mesa Rotary Club. His favorite activities was helping to establish Rotary scholarships and he is a Paul Harris Fellow. In 1981, he was a representative of the Mesa Rotary at the international convention in South America. Mr. Tibshraeny has been serving Mesa in one fashion or another for well over 70 years. He has been referred to as Arizona's most respected businessman and it has aptly been said that his donation of time and money to civic groups, social services and the business community is without equal in Mesa. He was preceded in death by his son Nick and is survived by his wife, Hazel; daughters, Florence Hanna (Donald) and Carole FISCHER (M. Paul); son, Gary TIBSHRAENY; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral service held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 322 N. Horne, Mesa, AZ. Meldrum Mortuary and Chapel handled arrangements. |
