The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Saturday, August 15, 2009 Verla Barney, 72, of Prescott, Ariz., passed away on Aug. 12, 2009. Verla was born March 29, 1937, in Chester, Idaho, to Sylvan and Florence Bell (Dixon) Barney. Verla leaves behind her children, Nancy Burns of Gilbert, Ariz., Jerry Park of Pahrump, Nev., and Jim Park of Peoria, Ariz.; sisters Grace Hunter of Jerome, Idaho, and Nina Christensen of Shelly, Idaho; and brother Wayne Barney of Prescott, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and older sister Vonda May Lott. Verla had a love for music and could spend hours entertaining family and friends with her guitar playing, singing and a joke or two. She will be missed by all who loved her. Services will be Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1001 Ruth St. Prescott. Viewing will be from 9 to 10 a.m. with the funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Hampton Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
