The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Friday, August 07, 2009 Clara Elizabeth Carr Bailey was born on Aug. 7, 1913 in El Centro, Calif. and passed away peacefully of natural causes on July 29, 2009 in Galt Calif. She married George Bailey in 1935 and they raised six children in Muscoy, Calif. and Cathedral City, Calif. They celebrated their 50th anniversary two days before George's death in 1985. They maintained homes in Prescott, Ariz. and California. Clara was an active member in the Methodist Church in each town in which she lived. She was also busy in PTA, 4-H, as a seamstress in Civic Musical theater and in her 60s received her A.A. degree and worked as a Teachers Aide. After her husband's death, Clara traveled extensively well into her 80s and visited six of the seven continents of the world. She was a respected and honored member of Eastern Star, Rotary International, UDC and DAR. She also enjoyed family history research, was award winning quilter and faithfully supported humanitarian causes, especially Heifer Project. After her death the 18" braid she always had was donated to Locks for Love. Clara is preceded in death by her parents William and Lucy Carr, her husband and five of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by one brother, Raymond Carr of Portland, Ore.; sons, Fred (Audrey) of Palm Desert Calif., John (Sandy) of West Sacramento; and daughters, Susan (Scott) Lethbridge of Acampo, Calif., Bethe Harrison of Sacramento, Calif., Nancy (Michael) Downing of Chandler, Ariz. and Lucinda (Mark) Spears of Pasadena, Calif. She will be dearly missed by her six children, 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren as well as by the extended family and friends she so loved.
