The Camp Verde Bugle, Camp Verde, Arizona Tuesday, August 11, 2009 Ray E. Gentry died August 9, in Sedona. He was born on Aug. 11, 1923, in Sand Springs, OK. Ray graduated from Nampa High School in Nampa, ID, then joined the army in 1941. He served in the 8th army air corps as a radioman in England during World War II. Ray managed Fuller Paints and Glass in Nampa, ID, Boise, ID, Honolulu, HI, and Spokane, WA. Before retiring in Sedona, Ray operated a window manufacturing plant in Denver, Colo. Ray enjoyed restoring horse carriages and showing horses in competition. Ray did volunteer work throughout his life. Ray spearheaded the efforts to have roads paved in Pine Valley and was recently recognized as Volunteer of the Year for the Arizona State Parks for his work at Slide Rock State Park. Ray is survived by his wife, Janet; four sons, Jim, Steve, Rick, and Kelly; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and one sister. A celebration of his life will be held later.
