| The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ July 4, 2007, p. A9 Susan Martinez, age 45, passed away in her home June 26 after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services took place on Saturday (June 30) at the First Baptist Church in Wickenburg with Pastor Mike Jones of the Morristown Christian Fellowship officiating. Susan was born in the Detroit, Mich., area in 1962 and was raised there until age 8 when her family moved to Rye, Colo., where she continued her schooling and graduated from Rye High School in 1980. Following high school she began working in the banking industry and worked in all aspects of the industry. She married Gabriel Martinez August 1, 1981, and they made their home in Pueblo, Colo. She continued in working in banking until 1986 when their first child was born and has been primarily a homemaker since that time. She came to Arizona in 1989, living first in the Phoenix area and later moving to Morristown in 1998. Susan had been active in the Palm Croft Home School Co-op, as she had been home-schooling her children for years. She had also worked in the accounting department of the Morristown Water Company. Susan is survived by her husband Gabriel Martinez of Morristown and children Candace, Sarah, Christian, and Jonathan all of Morristown; her parents Jay and Sharlene Rom of Colorado; a brother Steven Rom of New River; and sister Sandy K. Simon of Colorado. Arrangements are under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home. |
