The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ July 4, 2007, p. A9 Gwen Trotter, age 54, passed away June 27 at her residence in Forepaugh. Gwen was born in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, to William Ablitt and Lily Roman Ablitt. She was raised and attended schools there. She married L.L. “Sparky” Trotter on April 25, 1975, and they made their home in Langley, B.C. They ranched and ran the rodeo circuit throughout Canada. They later owned a ranch in Clinton and owned and operated a western store called Trottin’ Tack in Ollala, B.C. The Trotters came to Wickenburg in 1993 where Gwen has been heavily involved in the family business Trotter Enterprises. She has always enjoyed the outdoors and rodeo, and was a highly accomplished heeler in team roping. She had won several awards over the years. Gwen was a member of the British Columbia Rodeo Association and the British Columbia Team Roping Association. She is survived by her husband L.L. “Sparky” Trotter of Wickenburg. son Lorne Trotter of Congress, granddaughter Raina Trotter of Congress, brothers Peter, Mike, Joe, Tony, Steve, and Bobby Ablitt all of Canada. A celebration of Gwen’s life will take place on Saturday (July 7) at 8 p.m. at Horse World Arena on Rincon Road in Wickenburg. Arrangements are under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home. |
