Noni Lyn Hatch (formerly McCallen and Platt) passed from this world Aug. 16, of liver cancer at the age of 61 years. She was born Dec. 15, 1945 in Nampa, Idaho, to James Alonzo and Alice Naida Knight McCallen.

She died while in the loving care of her sister-in-law Sandy McCallen, her daughter Brandi Lisle, her son Jason Platt, her daughter-in-law Pamela Platt, and her father James McCallen.

Noni had fiery red hair, a beautiful smile, and a uniquely gentle nature. She leaves a legacy of kindness, grace, laughter, love for horses, generosity, and love for her family and friends. Her love endures especially for her grandchildren Emma Kay, McKenna Lyn, and Owen Christopher Platt and Otto Thomas and Alexander Jason Lisle. She will also be greatly missed by her brother Steven McCallen and his sons Jared, Jacob, Justin and Jordan and their families, and Brandi’s husband Karl Lisle.

She and her late husband, Robert A. Hatch worked together for nearly 30 years, owning and operating a successful road construction company. She will also be missed by his family: sons John and Rob, Rob’s wife Jeanne and their daughters Sally and Christina.

Through the years Noni resided in Brownsville, Eugene, Bend, Portland and Wilsonville, Ore., and most recently spent the winter working at the Flying-E Ranch in Wickenburg, Ariz. This was a lifelong dream realized, and she fit right in - doing the books, helping out in the kitchen, riding horses, being a good friend.

Noni spent a very meaningful part of her life teaching literacy to adults; something she had hoped to do more of. Donations on her behalf to www.oregonliteracy.org would undoubtedly make her smile.

Her family will remember her tight-squeeze hugs and relentless kisses, her overflowing generosity and desire to make everyone happy. She is a tremendous example of courage, grace, and selflessness, displayed in the way she dealt with the adversity she encountered in the last few years of her life.

A celebration of Noni’s life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 1 p.m. at the home of her brother and sister-in-law Steven and Sandy McCallen, 40153 Booth Kelly Road, Springfield, Ore. Everyone she touched is welcome to attend.

“Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons” - from Desiderata
