Wayne Jennings, age 73, of Wittmann, Ariz., passed away on Aug. 19 at a rodeo in Payson, Ariz., one that he had won in 1973 and in 1980. He was doing what he loved most in the world, and left this world for a better one.

His greatest loves were rodeo, horses, his loving rodeo companion Tazee and most of all, his friends. His happiest times were sitting at the Bar J Ranch around the barn telling rodeo stories and coffeeing-up at the caf/ with his friends. He enjoyed the huge dinners prepared with his friends around him. It was always surprising that he could talk about a rodeo in 1958 and remember exactly what his time was and how much money he had won. He might not have been worldly, but he could figure the payout money in his head.

Wayne was born to Mirl and Eva Jennings June 13, 1934 in Midview, Duchesne County, Utah.

He leaves behind a legacy and is survived by his wife Kathy who loved him dearly for 32 years; son Todd Jennings of Las Vegas, Nev.; brother Mirl Jennings of Roosevelt, Utah; sisters Leila Kohrell of Riverside, Calif., Eldora Earnhardt of Las Vegas, Nev., Fay Mills (Claire) of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Mavis Wilson (Larry) of Roosevelt, Utah; sister-in-law Nancy Cochran and mother-in-law Betty Cochran both of Wittmann, Ariz.; and his many, many friends.

He is preceded in death by sisters Eunola Taughes and Lujean Ostler.

So we are going to the next rodeo Wayne’s way... Load up the horses, put it on cruise, flip the turn signal on and head on down the road.

Visitation was held Saturday (Aug. 25) from noon until 1p.m. with funeral services at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Wickenburg.

Arrangements were under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home.
