Michael (Mike) Lewis was born on Sept. 23, 1935 to Earl and Ruth Lewis.

He grew up in El Monte, Calif., where he attended school until his high school graduation in 1953. In 1954, Mike married his high school sweetheart Dorothy Glenn and was together with her for 53 years.

In 1955, they had the first of their three sons. In 1959, Mike started work for Standard Oil which later became Chevron Corporation. He retired in 1990 after 31 years of service. In 1993, Mike and Dorothy relocated to Wickenburg where Mike was a volunteer at the Wickenburg Library for many years and spent a short time on the Planning and Zoning commission.

Throughout Mike’s life he was active in coaching Little League for his three sons and enjoyed golfing. He also loved boating, fishing, and waterskiing (in his younger years!) at Lake Havasu.

Mike is survived by his wife Dorothy of Wickenburg; son Jeff and daughter-in-law Evelyn of Upland, Calif.; son Don and daughter-in-law Maxy of Long Beach, Calif.; son David and daughter-in-law Leslie of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; granddaughter Jade Lewis of Upland, Calif.; granddaughter Megan Lewis of New York, N.Y.; grandson Caden Lewis of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; sister Barbara Dunkle and brother-in-law Jim of Pottsboro, Texas.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 22 at Etiwanda Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike’s name will be accepted at the Wickenburg Library.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home.
