| The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ September 26, 2007, p. A16 Charles A. Petersen of Wickenburg died Sept. 18. He was born Oct. 12, 1926 to the late John and Grace Petersen in Detroit Mich. Charles married Margaret Greer and together they had five sons. They moved to Phoenix in 1959 and he worked for Arthur Anderson for a number of years before striking out on his own. Charles, or “Chuck” as he was known by many, led an interesting life. An entrepreneurial spirit by nature, he left Arthur Anderson to pursue is own public accounting practice. This in turn, led to many different business ventures. His association with Wickenburg began when he assumed management of the old Shady River Ranch (now known as the Hassayampa River Preserve). Chuck loved Wickenburg and appreciated the many “characters” among the residents including Bill Cluff and the Hershkowitz brothers. He purchased Echo Hills with dreams of moving there at some point in the future. Eight years ago he was able to move and quickly became a part of St Anthony’s parish, St Vincent de Paul, and the Wickenburg community. He enjoyed being involved and helped when he could. Chuck was probably best known as the bicycle rider with the arrow on his back directing traffic to the left as he rode on the Phoenix highway. He could be seen frequently on the highway getting in his 15 miles and waving whenever anyone would honk. He made friends wherever he went. He was a faithful husband, a loving father and a wonderful grandfather, loved by many and now, missed by all. He is survived by his wife Margaret Petersen of Wickenburg and sons John (Rachel) of Fribourg Switzerland, Charlie (Jeanne ) of Bellingham, Wash., Bill (Sharon) of Glendale, Chad of Bellingham and James (Sharon) of Phoenix. Services were held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church 232 N. Tegner Wickenburg, Saturday (Sept. 22) 2007 at 10 a.m. Visitation and rosary were held on Friday at 5 p.m. at Wickenburg Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul in Wickenburg. Arrangements are under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home. See Also: Find A Grave |
