Carmen Ortega died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at Casa De La Luz Hospice in Tucson, Ariz. She had celebrated her 90th birthday on Aug. 3, 2009.

Carmen was born in Humbolt, Ariz. She had worked for the Yavapai Regional Medical Center for many years, followed by the VA Hospital until her retirement in 1983.

She was preceded in death by her father, Refugio Arredondo; her mother, Eduarda Servin Arredondo; her brothers, Pedro Arredondo, Jesus Arredondo Sr., and her husband Jesus Ortega Sr. She is survived by her children Jesus Ortega Jr. (Jessie) of Superior; Ruth F. Fulton (John) of Tucson; and Ernest M. Ortega of Taylor. She had 12 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Mary Mendibles of Prescott.

Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at Heritage Memory Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave., Prescott, Ariz.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Prescott. Luncheon will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church following Christian burial service.
