Alfred (Griff) Griffin

Alfred “Griff” Griffin passed away on Sept. 26. He was born March 5, 1914, in Eula, Texas.

In 1920, his family moved to Arizona. His father William Hovey Griffin homesteaded Nadaburg (later renamed Wittmann), Ariz.

Griff was a plumber for more than 65 years and was the oldest living member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 469 at his death. He was a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge 31 in Peoria. He was a member of El Zaribah Shriners in Phoenix, and he was a member of Eastern Stars 59 in Peoria.

Griff lived in Glendale for 30 years and in Congress for 19 years.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters and one grandson.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Nell; daughters Carolyn Griffin and Joyce Middleton; sisters Bea Jackson, Ellen Simmons and Lee Juncker; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday (Oct. 5) from 7 to 9 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes, 7924 N. 59th Avenue in Glendale and will include the Masonic and Eastern Star ceremonies.

Graveside services will be Saturday (Oct. 6) at 11 a.m. at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6290 W. Northern Avenue in Glendale.
