The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ October 31, 2007 p. A13 Elizabeth “Betsy” Ross, who lived in West Park in Wickenburg, died Friday, Oct. 26 at the Surprise Hospice of the Valley. Betsy was born Nov. 4, 1920, in Sommerset, Penn. For most of her early life, she lived in the Chicago area and worked in retail sales for several large department stores. In 1976 she moved to her home in West Park where she remained until her death. She continued in retail sales for several years, commuting to Phoenix. She retired, then spent many years volunteering at Wickenburg Regional Medical Center and working and volunteering at Desert Caballeros Western Museum. Betsy was also quite active in her church, Redeemer Lutheran. Memorial services will be held this Thursday (Nov. 1) at 10 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wickenburg. Also remembered at this service will be Charles Boliou. She is survived by her older sister Emeline; nephews David Link and wife Carrie, and Paul Link and wife Kate; niece Nancy Elliott and husband Lee. Her family wishes to thank the caregivers and support personnel of Hospice of the Valley for the care and comfort they provided Betsy, especially during the final weeks. Memorials can be made to the Humane Society, Hospice of the Valley, or Redeemer Lutheran Church. |
