Elihu Richard Hobson, Sr.

Elihu Richard Hobson Sr. of Wickenburg died Dec. 7, in Wickenburg. He was 81. Mr. Hobson was born Dec. 28, 1916 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and had lived in Arizona for 15 years.

He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in Iowa and later went to Detroit, Mich., where he worked as a shorter in the main post office before transferring to Los Angeles, where he retired.

Mr. Hobson married his wife Ines in 1969 in Tijuana, Mexico, and raised his family in Huntington Park, Calif., before moving to Arizona in 1983.

He was an avid family historian, stamp and rock collector. He was a caring man who loved his family and did the best he could for each of them.

He will always be a father remembered for the strong arm which carried each o his family members through their daily trails, not an iron fist locking them in his grasp, but always a loving hand reaching out…offerings guidance.

The world has lost a very great man. He will be loved and missed by all whose lives he touched.

Survivors include his wife Ines Hobson of Wickenburg; daughters Maria G. Soto of Congress and Ann I. Hobson of California and her husband Joe Chavez; sons Elihu R. Hobson Jr. of Wickenburg and his wife Amy Hobson, and Max M. Hobson of Wickenburg; brothers Carl and Carroll Hobson; sisters Imogene Chambers, Lillian Doran and Marjorie Trusty; and grandchildren Donovan Chavez, and Regina and Laura Soto.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Florence Hobson; brother Max; and sister Myrtle Eicher.

Special thanks to Dr. and Mrs. Shafqat, Wickenburg Regional Hospital, Home Care of Phoenix, Hospice of Phoenix, In-Home Heath of Wickenburg, Hospice of Wickenburg, Brown’s Wickenburg Funeral Home, Pastor Dennis Smith, Social Serivces/CAP, and Wickenburg Assemblies of God Women’s Group.

A private visitation already has been held. Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 11 at 10 a.m. at the Wickenburg Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Dennis Smith Officiating.

Interment is at the Wickenburg Cemetery.

Brown’s Wickenburg Funeral Home handled all the arrangements.
