Retired Master Sergeant William R. France, On Monday Dec. 11, 2000, William R. "Bill" France went to be with the Lord and is finally at peace. He was suffering from rheumatoid arthritis along with other ailments. We are thankful that he no longer has to suffer with a smile as he has for much too long. He was a great father, a loving husband, and a very good friend. His kindness and generosity was felt by all who knew him. We will all miss him terribly. He was 72 years old. He was born in Greenback, Tenn. May 28, 1928. He joined the Air Force in 1951 and was involved in athletics his entire career until he retired in 1974. He was an active member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Disabled American Veterans. He was preceeded in death by his wife Thelma and is survived by Tim and Trude of Missoula, MT.; Dave and Tammy of Great Falls, MT.; grandchildren, Adam and Aaron of Missoula, MT.; Melody of Fort Hood, TX., Jessica of Missoula, MT.; stepchildren Joe and Rhonda Davis, Jan and Lou Sandillo of Phoenix, AZ, Debbie Roof of Great Falls, MT.; and numerous step-grandchildren. Graveside services for Mr. France were held Monday December 18, 2000 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix. A visitation was held on Sunday evening at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N. 59th Ave, Glendale. Memorials have been established to the Arthritis Foundation, 777 E.
