The White Mountain Independent Show Low, Arizona 10/07/2005 Charles Martin Austin, 62, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2005 at RTA Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Lakeside. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA in 1943. He served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam. Chuck helped build some of the Moon Landing equipment on the Gemini Project. He worked as a communications technician for A.P.S. for 25 years. For many years he played Santa Claus for the "Make-a-Wish" foundation, he also surprised many of his friend's children playing "Santa". Chuck was also a perpetual computer architect and "Geek". He enjoyed spending time with his family and thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren. Chuck is survived by his wife, Irene M. Austin of Snowflake; sons, Daniel (Lynette) Austin of Gilbert, Nathan (Amy) Austin of Gilbert, Benjamin (Kimber) Austin of Mapleton, Minn.; daughters, Rachel Austin of Phoenix, Amanda Austin of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Julie Austin of Snowflake, Kathryn (Troy) Towell of Taylor; nine grandchildren, Olivia, Megan, Garrett, Brynne, Chad, Samantha Jane, Ayden, Nathaniel Marc, Erin Kayla; two brothers, William Austin and Raymond Austin and one sister, Catherine Austin. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Rebecca Austin and two grandsons, Dawson and Drake. Funeral Services will be held at 10: a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5 at the Snowflake Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the Church. Interment will be in the R.V. "Mike" Ramsay Memorial Cemetery in Snowflake. Owens Mortuary of Snowflake handled the arrangements.
