Smith Fenton Brewer, 91 died March 25, 2006 at his home in Snowflake.

He was born Aug. 3, 1914 in Pinedale, to Jacob Edward Brewer and Amanda Rogers Brewer. Pinedale, where he lived, was later renamed Clay Springs. Smith went to elementary school there and went to high school in Snowflake.

During his freshman year he was in an accident and broke his leg. During his Sophomore year he went to work in a sawmill to help support the family during the depression. He married his sweetheart, June Reidhead Sept. 8, 1934 in Clay Springs. They were later sealed in the Mesa Temple Sept. 22, 1936. He spent most of his working life in the logging woods. Their home was in Heber from 1943 to 1980.

Smith was a life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various capacities. While he and June were serving in the Mesa Temple they were called to serve a mission together in England for 18 months. They then moved to their home in Snowflake where they remained ever since. They were married for 71 ? years. They enjoyed traveling and visiting their children and grandchildren. They loved following their grandchildren's baseball games. Their family was the most important part of their lives.

Smith is survived by his wife, June Brewer of Snowflake; seven daughters, Betty (Jerry) Taylor of Clay Springs, Carole (Lynn) Despain of Snowflake, Lorna (Gary) Downing of Show Low, Suzanne (John) Allen of Phoenix, Judy (Larry) Reidhead of Kanab, Utah, Debra (Rick) Gardner of Phoenix, Barbara (Marshall)Yarn of Taylor; one sister Ida Nell Hayes of Mesa, 32 grandchildren, 109 great-grandchildren, and 29 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Annette as an infant, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 30 at the Snowflake Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There will be a visitation from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 29 at Owens Mortuary in Snowflake and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Snowflake Cemetery.
