Funeral services were held on Monday, March 27 at 11 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Ash Fork for Alma Pouquette, age 94, who died March 21 in Sun City West.

Ms. Pouquette was born on September 12, 1911 in Ash Fork, Ariz., to Simon and Charlotte Pouquette. Her father and mother left France in the early 1900s to homestead in the Williams area, and in Wickenburg where they ran a sheep and cattle business.

Ms. Pouquette, a life-long resident of Arizona, began her schooling in Ash Fork and graduated from Wickenburg High School in 1930. In 1939 she opened the White House Hotel in Ash Fork, which she owned and operated for almost 50 years. In Ash Fork's hey-day, the hotel provided around-the-clock accommodations for railroad workers, mail carriers and servicemen during World War II.

Ms. Pouquette will be missed by the many friends and family members whose lives she touched.

Survivors include her sister Aimee Simpson of Wickenburg and many nieces and nephews.
