April 25, 1920 - December 13, 2007

Albert Kenneth Dillenbeck, 87, of Chino Valley, Ariz., was born April 25, 1920, in Detroit, Mich. He passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus Dec. 13, 2007, at the VA Hospice Care Center in Prescott, Ariz., with family members at his side.

"AF rejoined his wife of 65 years, Dorothy V. Dillenbeck, who preceded
him to heaven just seven weeks ago.

Albert proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII as a Submariner Machinist. After the war, Al continued to serve his country in the private sector as an experimental machinist in Southern California.

Al had an extraordinary career, hand-tooling complicated valve bodies including parts for our Lunar Rovers and Space Shuttles.

He will also be fondly remembered as an avid gardener, photographer, artist, carpenter, camper and fisherman. Al and Dorothy were also enthusiastic, advanced square dancers; heaven must have needed another couple to make a frolicking square for Christmas.

Al is survived by his beloved "little" brother, Charles Dillenbeck and his wife Eileen of Gilbert, Ariz.; children Diane and Roy Kawawaki of Santa Ana, Calif., Mark and Mari-Ann Dillenbeck of Del Mar, Calif. and Craig and Cheryl Dillenbeck of Chino Valley, Ariz.; grandchildren Catherine Shipman of Mantua, N.J., Heather and Jonathan Fogg of Tustin, Calif., and Courtney, Nathaniel and Joshua Dillenbeck of Chino Valley, Ariz.; great-grand-children Joshua Shipman and Erik and Hannah Fogg;
and great-goddaughter Haiden Dumoch.

He leaves behind a myriad of friends and relatives, and his dearly loved Pastor, David Karow and congregation.

A Celebration of Al's Life will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007 at Hope Lutheran Church in Chino Valley.

A dessert potluck will be immediately following the service, with a private internment to take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dillenbeck family, P.O. Box 1819, Chino Valley, Ariz., 86323 to help defray the costs of our double loss during this holiday season.

"Grandma and Grandpa," we miss you greatly, but celebrate with you this side of heaven.

Once again, the family thanks Sunrise Funeral Home for helping us with arrangements.
