The White Mountain Independent Show Low, AZ 03/21/2006 Renee Williams, 81, died March l6, 2006 at her home in Snowflake. Renee was born and raised in McNary. When she was 16 years old she moved to Snowflake to finish high school, graduating in 1941. She then moved back to McNary and worked as a clerk at Southwest Forest Industries Sawmill. On June 28, 1947 she married Walter C. "Charlie" Williams. They moved to Van Nuys, California for two years of schooling, then back to McNary where he took a job as a foreman at the sawmill. They moved to Snowflake in 1955 to raise their family. She was a life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities, many of which were in leadership in the church auxiliaries. She had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and loved to share it. She was the first female to serve on the Roosevelt Council of Boy Scouts of America. Renee was also a worker in the Mesa Temple for many years. She always raised a beautiful garden, both vegetables and flowers. She will be remembered for her cooking and baking. She made candy that everyone loved and baked bread most of her life and loved to share it with her family, friends and neighbors. She also loved to quilt and gave many quilts as wedding presents. Renee is survived by her husband, Walter C. "Charlie" Williams of Snowflake; four daughters, Nancy (Steve) Brimhall of Gilbert, Susan (Loren) Hogan of Show Low, Marcie (Glenn) Allen of Mesa and Carol (Colin) Amos of Snowflake; two sons, Dennis (Dixie) Williams of West Monroe, La. and Charles (Juaina) Williams of Taylor; two brothers, Boyd H. Willis of Hemet, Calif. and D. L. Willis of Heber; 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 20 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Snowflake Main Street Chapel with a visitation one hour prior at the church and from 6-8 p.m. Sunday March 19 at Owens Mortuary in Snowflake. Burial will be in the Snowflake Cemetery. Owens Mortuary of Snowflake handled arrangements. See Also: Find A Grave |
