Roy A. Tuttle, Jr., born July 11, 1930 in Auburn, N.Y. and resident of Fountain Hills, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2007 at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea hospital. Roy was the founder and owner of Ropat Enterprises, a steel building company located in central New York State. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-54 with the OSI (Office of Special Investigations). Roy was an alumnus of Bucknell University Class of 1956, and King Ferry High School (New York) Class of 1948. Roy remained an active member of his community following his retirement to Fountain Hills. He served as treasurer and deacon for the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church; as a member of the Tuesday Crew for Habitat for Humanity and as a charter member of the Four Peaks Rotary Club. While in New York, Roy volunteered for the Cayuga-Syracuse Presbytery and served as District Governor for Rotary International’s District 7150 in central New York. He was an active member of the Scipio Masonic Lodge No. 110 for 52 years and in 2006 received the “Spirit Award” for outstanding service and leadership from the Fountain Hills Square Club. A devoted singer, Roy sang in church and community choirs both in New York and in Fountain Hills. Roy also became an avid Arizona golfer, including rounds at 6 a.m. during the summer heat in Phoenix. He loved to travel, having visited five continents with Pat during his life, as well as taking long summer car trips with his family across the United States. Roy is survived by Pat Tuttle, his wife of 46 years; his three children, Loren Tuttle (Seattle, Wash.) Beth Tuttle Maschoff (Twin Cities, Minn.) and Lynn Tuttle (Phoenix); two sons-in-law, Gary Maschoff and Les Linn; one grandson, Landon Linn; his two sister, Vivian Hughes (King Ferry, N.Y.), and Jeanne Herst (Union Springs, N.Y.); and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Roy and Ruth Tuttle (King Ferry, N.Y.) A memorial service was held on Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, at the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Habitat for Humanity, the Four Peaks Rotary Club or the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church. Published August 1, 2007, in the Fountain Hills Times.
