Fred H. Powrie

Fred H. Powrie Jr., age 91, of Westerville, Ohio died Monday, July 2, 2007 at Feridean Commons in Westerville, Ohio.

He was born on March 21, 1916 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Fred H. and Elorna (Meilstrup) Powrie.

Fred retired after working more than 40 years as a food broker with Pillsbury and Jantz & Sons.

Fred moved to Westerville in 2002 from Fountain Hills where he had resided for 17 years and was very active in all aspects of the Fountain Hills community.

He served as President and Lt. Governor of the Kiwanis Club, served on the Parks and Recreation Board in Fountain Hills, President of the Wa-Hinda-Casitas Condo Association, at the age of 80 he ran for and was elected Fire Commissioner, and was active in the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed gardening and had also resided in Medina, Ohio as well as Lakewood, Ohio from 1952 until 1985.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years: Maxine (Maumaugh) whom he married on May 6, 1938 in Flint, Mich.; children: Sandra Maletz of Burbank, Ohio, Max (Marianne) Powrie of Wooster, Ohio, Fred (Linda) Powrie III of Westerville, Ohio, Marcia (Tony) Nichols of Atlanta, Ga., Cheryl (Steve) Smith of Chicago, Ill.; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; brothers: Robert (Alice) of Sarasota, Fla., Mac of Flushing, Mich., and Charles (Elaine) Powrie of Charlotte, N.C.

He was preceded in death by granddaughter Tahnee Powrie, and brothers, Thorald and Emerson.

Memorial services were held Saturday, July 7, 2007, in the Killeen Room of Feridean Commons, 6885 Freeman Rd., Westerville, Ohio, with Pastor Bud Leskovac officiating.
