Philip A. Workman

KEWANEE -- The Rev. Philip A. Workman, 46, formerly of Kewanee, died Saturday, June 20, 1998, in Ecuador, where he and his family were serving as missionaries.

Born March 18, 1952, in Kewanee to Stanford and Mary Madsen Workman, he married Sylvia M. Monroe on Jan. 12, 1980, in Phoenix. She survives.

Also surviving are his parents of Kewanee; one son, David, and one daughter, Sarah Workman, both of Ecuador; and his grandmother, Leona Workman of Gilman; two brothers, Steven of Champaign and David of Logansport, Ind.; and nieces and nephews.

He graduated from the University of Arizona, Grand Canyon College in Phoenix and Southwestern Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He was ordained in June 1983 and started a church in Laughlin, Nev., where he served for 10 years.

For the last two years, he and his family have been doing missionary work in Costa Rica and Ecuador.

Services were Saturday at First Congregational Church UCC. The Rev. Matthew Jackson officiated. There was no visitation. Burial in Pleasant View Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Pastor Philip A. Workman Memorial Fund established at Peoples National Bank in Kewanee.
