Edmond J. (Ed) Packwood

Edmond J. "Ed" Packwood died October 21, 1999 at the Lackey Manor Health Care Center where he had been a resident for several months.

He was born in Exeter, Missouri, on 9-20-07 to Jessee Warren Packwood and Amanda Caroline Packwood and was the 10th of 11 children.

He attended business college in Springfield, Missouri, Southwest Baptist College, Boliver, Missouri, and Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee. He owned the Bison Lumber Company in Shawnee, was a real estate investor and developer in Phoenix,Arizona, and served as Business Manager for Grand Canyon College in Phoenix and Vice President of Development, California Baptist College, Riverside, California. He also served as President of the Arizona Baptist Convention, was a member of the ExecutiveCommittee of the Southern Baptist Convention, a member of the boards of the Baptist Retirement Center of Oklahoma and The Baptist Foundation, and an active member of the Gideons. At the time of his death, he was a member of Highland Hills Baptist Church, Oklahoma City, OK.

His first wife of 64 years, Helen Hopkins Packwood, along with two of their children, Fred Packwood and Elwyn Packwood Hall, predeceased him. Survivors include his widow, Virginia Johnson Packwood, of the home in Oklahoma City; daughters, Arlene Packwood, Phoenix, Arizona, and Finetta Packwood Hill and her husband, Bob Hill, of Holbrook, Arizona; Allecia Packwood, his daughter-in-law, Shawnee; Hal Ray Hall, his son-in-law, Almagordo, NM; 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday October 26, 1999, at Roesch Funeral Home, Shawnee, Oklahoma. Donations may be made to Baptist Retirement Center of Oklahoma City or Mercy Hospice.
