Frances June (Miller) Alexander |

Francis June Alexander, 82, was called home on July 29, 2009. She battled with breast cancer for three years. She was under the loving care of Hospice and Family in Tucson. She was born on Feb. 21, 1927 at the family home in Winkleman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Dora (Ragsdale) Miller; brother, Richard E. Miller; younger sister, Clare Joyce Miller; younger brother, William Miller; the father of her children, Jay Edwards (Coolidge); and her husband of many years, Doug Alexander. She is survived by her son, T.J. Edwards (Leah) of Tucson; her daughter, Roberta Edwards (Ted) of Klamath Falls, Ore.; her sister, Pasty Miller Poarch of Globe; her sister-in-law, Sally Miller of Red Rock, Ariz.; her favorite brother-in-law, Charlie Poarch Sr.; nephews Charlie Poarch Jr. (Jill), Cody Poarch (Tiffany) of Globe, and Justin Poarch (Brenda) of Gilbert; her six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; along with many more loving family members. Francis made sure that she did not live a rancher’s life; she was a very successful businesswoman. Her first job was at Ma Bell in El Paso, Texas (which she lied about her age to get hired). Later, she became a beautician and owned her own beauty shop in Tucson. She and Doug owned many grocery stores throughout Texas; they were also busy traveling the U.S. and overseas, as Doug was a pipe-welder for Brown and Root Ind. She loved to cook, crochet and collect old family photos to learn about her family’s ancestry. While Francis and Doug were living a short five years in the Globe area, you were sure to see them selling Texas watermelons and pecans. They stayed busy until their illnesses took them back to Tucson. As requested, there will not be services; she was cremated and laid to rest in the family cemetery in Dudleyville, Ariz., as she was kin to Dudley Harrington, and her parents are buried there as well. God rest her soul; she is in our hearts and thoughts each day, for she was only loaned to us for a while. See Also: Find A Grave |
