The Camp Verde Bugle, Camp Verde, Arizona Tuesday, August 18, 2009 Patsy Mae Wantland, 54, of Cottonwood, died August 14. She was born October 26, 1954, in Mobile, Alabama, the daughter of Homer and Ethel Maedell (Coker) Sharpton. She was a graduate of Sahuaro High School in Tucson and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Arizona in Tucson and her Master of Arts degree from Northern Arizona University. Patsy spent 28 years in teaching. Starting out teaching second and third grade, she went on to teach junior high level and then became a Reading Specialist for Yavapai County. During her career, she taught in San Carlos, Clay Springs, Pinedale, Show Low, Cornville and the Cottonwood Junior High School. Patsy retired three years ago due to her health. She enjoyed painting, crafts, sewing, and crossword puzzles. She loved to travel and loved the ocean. She was an avid reader and loved trivia. Patsy leaves her husband of 31 years, Loren (Cowboy) Wantland; her parents Homer and Maedelle Sharpton of Tucson; and a sister, Phyllis Sharpton of Scottsdale. A tribute service will be held on Tuesday, August 18 in the Westcott Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Donations in her memory may be made to the Verde Valley Humane Society, P. O.
