Viola Irene (Harrison) Muncy

Viola Irene Harrison Muncy passed away August 17, 2009 at the Arizona Pioneers' Home in Prescott, Arizona. She was born June 20, 1908 in Carlsbad, Territory of New Mexico; the daughter of Sam Houston and Martha Jane (Newman) Harrison. Viola was 101 years old.

Viola married Herbert G. Muncy on June 23, 1930; they had two children. Viola did work from time-to-time but for the most part was a housewife raising their children. Viola did enjoy music and dancing; she was an avid gardener. She spent the past few years writing her autobiography and performing with the Pioneers' Home Band.

She was a beloved mother and grandmother. Viola will truly be missed by those who knew her.

Viola is survived by her daughter Yonova Muncy Churchill of Prescott, AZ, and son Gayle A. Muncy, who preceded her in death. Grandchildren: Karen Churchill of Prescott, AZ; Dale Churchill of Mesa, AZ; Brian Churchill of Mesa, AZ; Todd Muncy of Phoenix, AZ; and 7 great-grandchildren. Viola is also preceded in death by her husband Herbert Muncy and her son-in-law Richard Churchill.

A private cremation will take place at the Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley, AZ. The Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
