The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ August 5 2009, p.A7 Norma Mary (Johnson) Strudgeon passed away of a broken heart at her residence in Au Gres, Mich., July 28 after losing her husband of 63 years, Donald, on June 19. Norma was born Nov. 18, 1925 in Woodrow, Ohio, to the late Albert and Cora (Schoemaker) Johnson. Norma married Donald Clark Strudgeon on June 1, 1946 and was blessed with twin girls, Jill and Jan, in February, 1954. Their only grandchild, Jason Donald DeWayne Grissom was born in September, 1978. Norma retired as executive secretary of the March of Dimes of Genesee County in 1980. She also worked for the Flint Auto Auction and was an X-ray tech for Dr. Jack Livesay. Since retirement, Norma and Don spent most of the past 29 years at their home in AuGres, Mich., and Wickenburg, Ariz. Norma “Sweet Pea” will be remembered as a kind and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Besides being with family, she enjoyed desert cookouts, fishing, sewing, decorating and artistic abilities, playing bridge and volunteering for many organizations. Surviving are daughters Jill (David) McQueen and Jan Strudgeon, grandson Jason Grissom, sister Alberta LaRiviere and companion Coleman Woods, brother Ed (Louise) Johnson, sister-in-law Shirley Johnson, brother-in-law, Walter (Anne) Strudgeon, sister-in-law Dorothy (Richard) Gale and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Norma was preceded in death by her husband Donald, parents Cora and Albert Johnson, sister Viola Conn and brother Earl Johnson. At Norma’s request, no memorial service will be held. Cremation has taken place. Special thanks to St. Joseph Home Health & Hospice of Tawas City, Mich., - especially Angela, Shannon, and Carolyn and Hospice of the Valley of Phoenix, Ariz.
