The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ Friday, May 20, 1938 Last Rites Held for Dewey Freeman Funeral services were held Thursday at 5 o’clock for Dewey (Doc) Freeman at the Assembly of God Church, with Rev. C. J. Menefee officiating and interment in the Wickenburg cemetery. He passed away at 2 o’clock Wednesday morning in the Wickenburg hospital from a gunshot wound, said by authorities to have been self-inflicted. Despondency over ill-health and failure to find employment was blamed for his act. Dewey Freeman,39 years old, had resided in Wickenburg for seven years coming here from Ft. Worth, Texas. For several years he had been employed at Hill’s Garage. In addition to his wife he is survived by four children, Helen 16, James 14, Betty 11 and Lena Jo, six; his parents Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Freeman of Ft. Worth, Tex., and five sisters and five brothers, all of whom reside in Texas. The Woodmen of the World drill team acted as pall bearers. See Also: Find A Grave |
