The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ February 1, 1945 p. 1 Death Summons Calvin F. Carr Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, from the Wickenburg Chapel, for Calvin F. Carr, long-time resident of this community and affectionately known as “Dad” Carr. Mr. Carr passed away Thursday evening, January 25th, at the Wickenburg Hospital which he had entered as a patient a few hours before. His death was due to infirmities of old age. Born in Missouri, some 12 miles south of St. Louis on September 8th, 1859, Mr. Carr came to Arizona in 1900. For 18 years, from 1904 to 1922, he was with the Southern Pacific Railroad, as foreman of its car shops in Phoenix. Upon retiring from the railroad business, he came to Wickenburg district and ranched for some time north of town. He later worked on the Wittman project. Mr. Carr was a widower, Mrs. Carr having died some 50 years ago. A daughter, Mrs. Rose Burmaster, resides in Van Nuys, Calif. A brother, Walter G. Carr and niece, Mrs. Bessie Cameron, live in Wickenburg. Another brother E. E. Carr, is a resident of San Bernardino, Calif., while a sister lives in Banning, Calif. Rev. B. Ross Cleeland of the Community Presbyterian Church, conducted the funeral services. Burial was in Wickenburg cemetery. See Also: Find A Grave |
