Verde Independent, Cottonwood, Arizona Tuesday, September 01, 2009 Samuel Richard Duncan, 68, of Chino Valley, Arizona passed away on August 29, 2009 at 7:20 AM. He was born to the late Walter and Mattie (Clark) Duncan, May 17, 1941 in Cottonwood, Arizona. He served in the Army from July 1, 1959 to July 1, 1961 and December 1, 1965 to May 1, 1967. He passed away a disabled veteran. Samuel attended Southern Baptist Church. He loved being outside, fishing and going to garage sales. Samuel is survived by his wife Edith Duncan and eight step-children and seven children by previous marriages and many grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Brice of Kansas, his brother Nick Duncan (Nelda) of North Carolina and his step-brother Frank Smith (Loretta) of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Jim Duncan and a sister Eleanor Wease. He loved Psalm 23 and the song Shine Jesus Shine. There will be a viewing Wednesday, September 2 from 3-5 PM at the Westcott Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 3 in the Westcott Funeral Home at 10 AM.
