The Camp Verde, Bugle, Camp Verde, Arizona Tuesday, September 01, 2009 John Lawrence Osborn, 72, of Cottonwood died August 28 at his home in Cottonwood. He was born November 7, 1936 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the son of Leslie A. Osborn and Mildred Grimes Osborn. He served as sergeant in the Army during World War II. He was a drill sergeant and trained troops on the Howitzer. He also served in the Coast Guard. He worked as a food service manager. He was baptized a Christian. He enjoyed fishing, golf, music, gardening, entertaining young children, going to the Casino and watching movies. His beautiful wife Mary "Loretta" Yoggerst Osborn preceded him in death. He leaves his four children, Lawrence Sterling Osborn of Loveland, Colorado, Matthew Spencer Osborn (Susana) of Misawa, Japan, Benjamin Joseph Osborn (Amy) of Parker, Colorado and Alexandra Marlene Osborn of Cottonwood; sisters Charlene Brown of Omaha, Nebraska, Inez Archer of West Virginia, Margaret Walker of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Pam King of Delan, Florida, six granddaughters, Ashley Cassandra Osborn, Hailey Cecilia Osborn, Monica Ashley Osborn, Sabrina Marie Osborn, Alana Loretta Osborn and Aspen Dawn Osborn; great-grandsons, Juan Julian Magana and Jeremiah Lawrence Magana. A graveside service will be held Friday, September 4 in the Valley View Cemetery at 10 AM. VFW Post 7400 will provide military honors. An online guestbook is available at www.westcottfuneralhome.com.
