The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ October 26, 1944 Heart Failure Claims Life of Mrs. Ethel Jones A shock to the community was the death Wednesday afternoon of Mrs. Ethel Jones which was due to heart failure following a major operation performed at the Wickenburg Hospital. Death occurred at 3 o’clock. Although she had not been in the best of health for several years. Mrs. Jones had not been seriously ill until Wednesday morning until when she entered the hospital and an immediate operation was deemed necessary. The fatal heart attack came while she was still on the operating table. The wife of David Jones, she had long been associated with her husband in the active operation of Jones Drug here and was widely known and highly esteemed throughout this community. Mrs. Jones was born in Norris City, Illinois, where her mother, Mrs. Maggie Mill , still resides. She came to Arizona some 18 years ago and had been a resident of Wickenburg for the past 12 years. She took a leading part in affairs of the community, serving on many committees in connection with civic campaigns and contributing substantially to the welfare and progress of Wickenburg. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Jones is survived by the son, Jimmy, 11, her mother and two sisters. Funeral arrangements had not been completed at the time of going to press, but likely will be held here, with burial in the Wickenburg Cemetery. See Also: Find A grave |
