Ronald G. Carr, born May 5, 1921, passed away March 29 in Sun City West, Ariz. He was 84. He graduated from Gilman High School class of 1939 in Northeast Harbor, Maine.

He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard Sept. 25, 1939 and served on the USS Cayuga on weather, iceberg and neutrality patrols and Greenland Guard duty. He also served at the Chicago Ninth Naval District Office and Seattle 13th Naval District Office, as well as on the USS Glendale PF-36 as Pay and Supply Officer in the Northern Pacific. He was also Supply Division Officer on the USS Dickman APA-13 Attack Troop Transport in the Philippines and South China Sea with rank of Lt. (jg). He was retained as military necessity until May 16, 1946, at which time most Pacific servicemen were returned to the U.S.

He was employed by General Electric Co. Chicago, on May 16, 1946 in the Finance and Service Operations Department and served the Industrial and Electric Utility Sales Department in the Central and Mid States Districts until retirement on February 1, 1984.

He is survived by his beloved wife Lorraine of 62 years of Wickenburg; brother Harland of Maine; sister Beverly Bennett of Washington; sister-in-law Sarah Carr of New York; sister-in-law Ila Kerkes of Wickenburg, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 450 Rose Lane in Wickenburg on Friday, April 7 at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Sun Health Hospice.
