The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ April 12, 2006, p. B7 Barbara Jean Fulks passed away March 27. She was born Oct. 27, 1937 to Floyd and Dorothy Fairbanks in Phoenix, Ariz. On Oct. 4, 1953, she married Wallace Fulks, who survives her, as well as sons Roy (Lisa) and Terry (Anna); one grandson Tyler, and two step-grandchildren. Barbara was employed at the Wenden Elementary School for 30 years as a bus driver, maintenance worker, cook's assistant, physical education aide and coach's assistant. Barb enjoyed working with sports. She learned all the rules and their changes down through the years, and served as a referee right up to the time of her retirement. The concession stand at Wenden Elementary, managed by Barb, was a project in which the school took great pride. Kids from home and visiting teams looked forward to cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn, soft ice cream, and the usual fare. The proceeds financed the annual trip to Disneyland enjoyed by dozens of eighth graders over the many years. Barbara was a dedicated school employee, a choice colleague and friend, as well as a helpmate to her husband Wally (in charge of maintenance at Wenden Elementary for nearly 30 years), a loved mother and grandmother. She leaves us all with wonderful memories and will continue to be a part of our lives forever. |
