The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ April 12, 2006, p. B7 Richard D. Hight, age 83, was born in Boone, Iowa, on August 1922 and raised in Nebraska by his parents Dowell and Bertha Hight. He entered the United States Navy in the submarine service during World War II. He moved to Arizona after the war and met his wife Elaine. They married in 1944, with a son coming in 1949, Richard Hight now of Istanbul, Turkey. He is also survived by grandsons Joshua and Bruce; great-grandchildren Jason, Kyle and Belle; as well as nephews and nieces. A long-time Wickenburg resident, Richard was vice president and manager of the Valley National Bank from 1955 through 1979. He moved to the Litchfield office of Valley National Bank and retired in 1985 to Sun City, Ariz. He was a well-known member of the Desert Caballeros Ride and an officer of the Wickenburg Rotary Club. He also served on the Library Board, Salvation Army, and was instrumental in making the loan to rebuild the Desert Caballeros Western Museum after the fire. Many residents and business people have been impacted by the help and instructions of Mr. Hight's banking knowledge. H was an avid golfer and loved to travel with his wife Elaine. Mr. Hight died on March 20, 2006 after a long illness. Graveside services were held in Sun City by Rev. Keith Lonsberry of the Foundation of the Desert Lutheran Church on March 23. Anyone wishing to make contributions in memory of Mr. Hight may send them to the Salvation Army or to the charity of choice. |
