The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ April 26, 2006, p. A13 Willis “Bill” Myron Simmons, age 75, went to be with the Lord on April 21. Bill was born Sept. 27, 1930 at home in Victor, Mont. He was the fifth child born to Marshall Greenfield and Alice (Stratton) Simmons. In his early years Bill worked as a cook. Later he became a building contractor and built many homes in the Holo and Missoula areas. He was an excellent woodworker, often making cabinets or furniture. Bill lived in Montana until 1989, when he moved to Arizona and met his wife Judy. He loved to fish. On December 26, 1966 he caught the largest fish in Flathead Lake, measuring 40 inches. Another love was bird hunting. His daughter Susan recalls fond memories of bird hunting with her dad and his favorite dog Laddie. Bill enjoyed traveling around the United States in his motor home. He was active in his church and loved the Lord. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Claude, Marshall (Dan) and Ed, and his previous wife Ellen. He is survived by his wife Judy; daughters Susan, Margaret and Sunshine; grandchildren Michelle, Jennifer, Johna, Jaime, Matthew, and Eilidh; great-grandchildren Emily and Elizabeth; his sister Ruth; three sisters-in-law Grace, Menena and Dorothy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday (April 27) from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at 11 a.m. at First Southern Baptist Church. Concluding interment and services will follow in Victor, Mont. Arrangements under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home. |
