December 11, 1912 to July 23, 2009 Ellen Margrete Christensen passed away in Lake Havasu City, AZ on July 23, 2009 at the age of 96. She was born to Niels and Anna (Jensen) Nielsen on December 11, 1912 in Copenhagen, Denmark. She immigrated to the United States in 1951. Ellen made Lake Havasu her home 25 years ago from Minneapolis, MN where she worked for Northwestern Hospital as a Hospital Lab Assistant for more than 20 years. She was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Ellen loved caring for her great grandchildren, baking cookies and entertaining friends and family with Danish dinner parties. Ellen leaves behind her son, Mogens Christensen; four grandchildren, Maria (Rick) Cartright of Arizona, Michael (Dawn) Christensen of Iowa, Martin (Terra) Christensen of Colorado and Melissa (David) Barton of Iowa and eight great grandchildren, Kassie, Kelsey, Kyle and Karsten Cartright, Hope and Mya Christensen, Davis and Delaney Barton. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hans Walther Christensen in 1987. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2009, 11:30 AM at Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Pastor Mel Soderberg will offer words of comfort and inspiration. Interment will be held at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens on Monday, July 27, 2009. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ellen's name to New Hope Hospice, 500 N. Lake Havasu Ave. #B106, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403.
