Elmer Ace Reid born June 17, 1921 in Parker, Ariz., passed on July 23 in Glendale, Ariz. Elmer was a previous resident of Wickenburg and has relatives here.

Elmer is survived by his devoted wife Elly; children Ann Bounds and Eugene Reid; five step-children, Robert, Karen, Edward, Tammy and Timothy Grimsley; a brother Kenneth Reid and a sister Hazel Richardson-Weems; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, plus several nieces and nephews.

Elmer was in two wars - World War II and the Korean Conflict - and was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery. He was a master sergeant.

Elmer was the proprietor of the longest continuous weekly Team Ropings of anyone in Arizona. A vast number of friends and roping buddies will miss Elmer. Elmer roped as a header and won first place many times, including the USTRA of Arizona division in 1992. He retired with great honor and dignity after having a quad-heart bypass surgery.

Services were held at the Veteran's National Memorial Cemetery on Pinnacle Peak and Cave Creek Road Friday (July 14).

In lieu of flowers the family asks that Hospice of the Valley West be remembered.
