Paul “Moose” Lindmeier, 80, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2006.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Rita (Mickus). His surviving family also includes four daughters, two sons, nine grandchildren, one great-grandson, brothers John and George and their wives Winnie and Mary.

Paul was born in Minneapolis, Minn., where he spent the first 52 years of his life. As a veteran of World War II, he served his country first as a Frogman and then a SeaBee in the South Pacific.

Paul went on to graduate in 1949 from the University of Minnesota where he played football and earned his nickname of “Moose”. He was an active member of the “M” Club and an avid sports fan, always watching or playing any and all sports.

Paul was a gifted teacher, coach and mentor. He and his brother George coached “Pee Wee” football for many years at St. Thomas the Apostle School in Minneapolis.

In 1977 he and Rita moved their home to Wickenburg, Ariz., where they owned and operated the La Siesta Motel. It was there he realized his love of the desert and horses. He was a member of the “Gold Shirt Gang” and enjoyed many trail rides. As an adventurous entrepreneur, he had a knack for building successful businesses. Paul and Rita retired to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1982.

He was a strongwilled man with a wonderful sense of humor who will be missed by many.

A private family service will be held for Paul, and his ashes will be placed at the National Cemetery on Cave Creek Road in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, P.O. Box 451429, Atlanta, GA 31145-9429 or Hospice of the Valley, 510 E.
