Bruce Edward Lower

Bruce Edward Lower was 56 when he passed away on July 18 in Bullhead City, Ariz. He was born on May 19, 1950 at Oceanside Community Hospital to his loving parents Bruce and Marjorie Lower.

Bruce attended schools in Vista, graduating with the VHS class of '68. He was a member of the track team as well as participating in inter-city track and field events, winning many ribbons.

Bruce joined the Army after graduation to fight in Vietnam for his country. After his discharge, it was his love of the Pacific ocean that drew him to become a commercial fisherman and scuba diver in Oceanside, Morro Bay and Alaska, but always remembering his days of surfing off the Oceanside Pier with friends and family as the best part of his youth.

Bruce moved to Wickenburg, Ariz., in 2000 to be close to his mother and brother, knowing that the Pacific was where his heart would always be. It was in Wickenburg that Bruce became a long distance truck driver, traveling across this beautiful country. It was also here that he met his wife Sherry and her daughter Jamie. Beside his ocean, family and friends, Bruce had an undying passion for his Harley.

Bruce was a loving and caring son, brother, uncle and father, and always had a smile for everyone, gathering friends all along the way. He was an active member of the American Legion in Wickenburg, where a memorial service will be held.

He was preceded in death by his father Bruce E. Lower, grandparents William and Pearl Huttom and Bruce and Catherine Lower.

Survivors include his devoted and loving mother and stepfather Marg and Tom Todaro; his best friend and loving brother Bill Lower, a loving sister Linda Peraldo; stepbrother Joe Todaro; stepsister Dawn Gage; the greatest joy of his life, his daughter Pearl Catherine; nieces Kimberly Peraldo and Shawna Pedro; nephew William Lower; great-nieces Alissa, Alexis, Caelin and Paige; and great-nephew Noah; along with other relatives and friends near and far.

No formal services will be held. There will be a private family memorial at sea, where his ashes will be scattered off Oceanside, where his beginning and farewell to all who knew and loved him say “good bye.”
