The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ September 27, 2006, p. A12. Ann P. Relyea, born Ann Patricia Delmonico, passed away peacefully at her home in Mesa, Ariz. She was born in Springfield, Mass., and had a long active life. Ann attended Fitchburg High School where she played saxophone in the school marching band, was a member of the debate club and other school organizations. After graduation she went on to attend Boston College. Ann worked as a reporter and researcher at the Boston Herald Traveler. She enlisted and served in the Women's Army Corp during World War II as an X-Ray Technician. Ann worked for several newspapers in the San Francisco Bay Area and was active in the American Legion, as well as the Disabled American Veterans. She was active in local community projects in Richmond, Calif., and Napa Valley, Calif. Ann was involved in local politics, helping many successful campaigns in local, state and national elections. She continued working in local politics in Napa Valley while working as the head of the Classified Advertising Department of the Napa Register. Ann retired and moved to Wickenburg, Ariz., with her husband Albert Lauritsen in the mid 1960s where she continued her work in politics. After her husband's death she moved to Sun Lakes, Ariz. During this time she continued her interest in metaphysics and earned a doctorate in Theology. A member of the Eastern Star, she was Associate Worthy Matron in both the Napa Valley Masonic Order and in Arizona. Ann Relyea was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Josephine Delmonico and two younger brothers, Albert and Leonard Delmonico. She is survived by her children Bette McLaughlin of Napa, Calif., Janet Scott of Belen, N.M., and John Ivy Morris II of Queen Creek, Ariz.; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, and a younger brother Ralph Delmonico of Westminster, Mass. Well known for her generosity to friends and strangers, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorial services were held on Saturday (Sept. 25 The Springs, 6220 E. Broadway Road, Mesa, Ariz., and in California at a future date. |
