Nyda R. Arthur, age 79 of Wickenburg, formerly of Shaftsburg, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 25 in Surprise, Ariz. Nyda was born on April 2, 1927 in Blackford, Ky., the daughter of Guy and Lola (Carnahan) Covert.

On March 14, 1959 she married Elton G. Arthur in Lansing, Mich.

She was a member of Graham Community Church, willing workers circle of the King's Daughters, Arthritis Foundation in Lansing, and the Retired Senior Volunteer People of Lansing. She worked for more than 25 years as the food supervisor at Wilson Hall at Michigan State University.

She enjoyed bingo and crocheting.

Nyda came to Arizona with her husband Elton in the early 90s. They made Horspitality RV Park in Wickenburg their winter home.

After Elton's death in 1996, Nyda was accompanied to Arizona by her friend Susan in 1997. They both became friends of Roger, God's Witness through Susan. Nyda and Roger both had their sins forgiven and they became born-again Christians.

Nyda was a member of the Presbyterian Church and she also attended Calvary Baptist Church. R&R Respite Care Center was a place Nyda loved to go five days a week, where she was cared for and enjoyed the fellowship, dining and games.

She is survived by her daughter Dixie Williams, five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 1 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home in Perry. Pastor Mike Hixson officiated.
