Myrtle Rawlings, 89, died April 20, 2006 in Winslow. She was born in Snowflake. Her mother passed away when she was a young girl and she later moved to Calif. to live with her older sister and graduated from high school there. She also lived in New Mexico for a short time, but Arizona has been her home most of her life. She and her husband Bud managed theaters in Holbrook and Show Low before retiring in 1989 when the Show Low Theater burned down. They then moved to Joseph City where she has lived ever since. Myrtle enjoyed a variety of activities including camping, traveling around the country, making quilts, doing yard work, reading and playing with the grandchildren. When she and her late husband, Bud, went on vacation, they always took children and grandchildren with them, memories which her children and grandchildren cherish. Myrtle is survived by one daughter, Peggy (John) Penrod of Joseph City; one son, Doyle (Cheryl) Hancock of Show Low; brother, Marion 'Shotgun' Willis; 17 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Rawlings; two daughters, Darlene Sheets and Judy Westover and one son, Gary Hancock. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday April 26 at the Joseph City chapel, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow in the Show Low Cemetery. Owens Mortuary of Holbrook handled arrangements. Myrtle's grandson Kelly Ernest "Skeeter" Penrod also preceded her in death. See Also: Find A Grave |
