A9 Dorothy Brown Koopman of Yarnell passed away peacefully on Dec. 27 at the Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott in the presence of her two daughters. She was 83. She was born on Oct. 26, 1921, in Chicago to Fred and Lillian Blaul. Dorothy had a passion for helping those less fortunate and opened her heart and home to anyone in need. She functioned as an emergency foster care mother in Chicago prior to earning her nursing credentials at age 50. Dorothy worked at hospitals both in Chicago and California before devoting her career to in-home nursing. Dorothy is survived by daughters Sandi Taylor (Jose) and Darlene Koopman (Kent); stepsons Kent, Kerry and Kirby Koopman; granddaughters Kim Childs, Dana Knight (Ron); and four great-grandchildren Jarrod and Jake Childs and Ronnie and Nicole Knight. She was preceded in death by husbands Culver Brown and Earle Koopman and grandson Steven Taylor. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at a later date in California. |
