Arizona Silver Belt Globe, AZ Wednesday, Sep 16th, 2009 Irene Alvarez Garcia went home to our Lord on Sept. 6, 2009 at the age of 87. Mrs. Garcia passed away peacefully at Heritage Health Center with her family by her side after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Garcia was the daughter of Gregorio Daniels Alvarez and Mercedes Rodriguez Alvarez and was born and raised in Winkelman, Arizona. After marrying, she lived in Mammoth, Arizona for many years before settling in Miami. A loving wife, mother, and sister, Mrs. Garcia was a wonderful cook who enjoyed evening cookouts and quiet dinners with her family. Nothing brought a smile to her face more than to see and visit with her children and grandchildren. A devout Catholic, Mrs. Garcia held a deep devotion to Our Lord, Jesus Christ, and to Our Lady of Guadalupe, to whom she recited countless rosaries for her family. Anyone who knew her could not help but love her. She is survived by her husband of fifty years, Ralph M. Garcia, a loving and caring man for all his family. She is also survived by three daughters, Virginia Doumis of Phoenix, Lupe (Nick) De La Torre of Tucson, and Patricia (Antonio) Arvizu of Miami, who took great care of her for many years. She is survived by three sons, Art (Nanette) Yescas of Kearny, Ralph (Dixie) Garcia of Espanola, New Mexico, and John (Mary) Garcia of Miami. Also, two brothers, Antonio R. Alvarez and Frank R. Alvarez of Tucson. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Armando and Robert, three brothers and three sisters. She also leaves behind 22 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren, all of whom will miss her dearly. Services for Mrs. Garcia were held on Friday, Sept. 11, 2009 at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament with viewing at 9 a.m., a rosary at 10 a.m., and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial followed at Pinal Cemetery.
