The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ August 17, 2005, p.B17 John S. "Jack" Seawright passed away August 14, 2005 at Del Webb Hospital in Sun City West. He was 89. He was born in Wabash, Ind., on May 9, 1916. Services are pending. Memorial services were held for on Friday, Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church of Wickenburg. Pastor Paul D. Jones of Community Presbyterian Church of Yarnell officiated. Jack was born May 9, 1916 in Wabash, Ind., to Arthur D. Seawright and M. Gladys French Seawright. He was raised in Akron, Ohio, and attended schools there. He attended Purdue University from 1935-1937 studying Business Administration. Jack began working with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in the mechanical goods division. In 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force, training in Lubbock, Texas, where he graduated as a glider pilot and was assigned to the 98th Squadron of the 440th Troop Carrier group in Europe. He flew several missions inside German defenses as well as investigating war crimes. Following the war and release from active duty in 1946, he joined the Army Air Corps Reserves in Duluth, Minn., and was assigned to the anti-aircraft battery working as a battery commander. He retired as a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves. Following the war, he also began working for Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Duluth, Minn. He later worked as a sales manager with National Iron Company in Duluth. He joined B.F. Goodrich Industrial Products Company in 1955 and was involved in marketing and engineering. In 1959, he worked with B. F. Goodrich as a Fleet Sales Manager in the Northeastern U.S., retiring in 1973. Jack came to Arizona in 1974, settling in Wickenburg. He was a member of the Lions Club, serving as past president; the Masonic Lodge of Akron, Ohio; and a member of the National Glider Pilots Association. Jack was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wickenburg, serving as a Deacon, member of the Session, and active in the church choir. He was involved in the community and had served on various committees in an effort to preserve the Wickenburg lifestyle. He is survived by his wife Anna J. Seawright of Wickenburg and three daughters from his late wife O. Genevieve Seawright. His daughters are Jean (John) Friedl of Tucson, Barbara (Russ) Reimer of Mesa, and Nancy (Ron) Price of Derwood, Md. He is also survived by his grandchildren Sherry Kissal of Germantown, Md., David Price of Derwood, Md., Sarah Lineberry of Vacaville, Calif., Jeffrey Friedl of Ventura, Calif., Bethany Friedl of Phoenix, and great granddaughter Stacia Lineberry of Vacaville, Calif.
