The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ August 17, 2005, p.B8 W.D. "Buck" Deacon passed away peacefully at his home in Congress on Aug. 6, 2005. Buck was a native Arizonan, born Feb. 4, 1938 in Miami, Ariz. The majority of his schooling was in Bagdad, Ariz., where he was captain of the high school football team, the Bagdad Thieves, and he cowboyed for many local ranchers. His first love was rodeo and he was a junior rodeo champion. At age 18 he enlisted in the Army and achieved status of an Airborne Ranger, in the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions, completing 42 successful jumps. He was a Veteran of Foreign Wars, involving Special Operations. Buck was an avid outdoorsman with a love for hunting and enjoyed perpetuating the outdoor ethic to others. Buck was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed by all that love him and had the opportunity to known him. Buck was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Deacon, in 1992. He is survived by his wife, Kim Deacon of Congress, Ariz.; four sons, Jesse (Angela) Deacon of Thompson Falls, Mont., Justin (Christine) Deacon of Columbus, Mont., Brandon (Bette) Gagner of Surprise, Ariz., and Matthew Deacon of Congress; seven grandchildren, Zane and Jordan Deacon of Saffordsville, Kan., Ashley Enyeart of Roundup, Mont., Brandi and Travis Deacon of Columbus, and Bradford J. and Joshua Gagner of Surprise. A celebration of life was held on Aug. 12, 2005 at the Congress Community Center. Arrangements were by Frey-Wickenburg Funeral Home. |
