The White Mountain Independent Show Low, Arizona 09/08/2006 Bishop Dennis Massey Sr. entered into the heavenly graces of his Lord's arms at 5:30 a.m., Sept. 4, 2006. He was born Feb. 25, 1925. Bishop Massey was an extraordinary man with many talents and abilities. He served in the Army during WWII. He started his employment with Show Low Sawmill as a laborer and retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs as a surveyor technician after 30 years. In his retirement he was the stockman for the Canyon Day Livestock Assn. He dedicated his life belief in God and served as pastor for 50 years. He obtained his status of Bishop in 2000. He now rejoices with the angels in heaven to our majestic God. Bishop Massey leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Nellie Massey; eight sons; and three daughters; one adopted daughter, one foster daughter, and four foster sons. He has many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many relatives and friends. All are welcome to attend his celebration of life. Bishop Massey will be brought back to his home in Canyon Day Friday, Sept. 8 at 10 a.m. A procession with veterans, ministers, and horse riders will be held at the Canyon Day Rodeo grounds. Funeral services will be at the Canyon Day Miracle Church Sunday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. Interment will be at the Canyon Day Cemetery. Silver Creek Mortuary of Whiteriver handled the arrangements.
