Peter O. Sanchez, Jr.

Peter Ortega Sanchez Jr. passed away peacefully at his parent’s home with his beloved daughters Alicia and Marissa at his side along with his parents and sister on Aug. 13, 2009, after just being diagnosed with colon cancer June 30.

Peter was born Feb. 10, 1963 at the Queen of Angels hospital in Los Angeles, California. He was the son of Peter and Jennie Sanchez, a longtime resident of Gold Canyon and Ray-Sonora, Arizona.

He is survived by his parents, Peter and Jennie; daughters Alicia and Marissa; son, Peter III; and sisters, Cynthia Eck (RE), Patricia Arias and Joann Norquist (John); along with several cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews in Arizona, Los Angeles and New York.

Peter was a 1981 graduate of Ray High School of Kearny, Arizona.

Peter was a single parent who dedicated his life to his twin daughters and son whom he enjoyed spending every moment with.

He was also very proud of serving the Army where he became a 2nd Commander Helicopter Pilot. He was able to travel the world, as he used to brag. His other accomplishments were Golden Glove Champion and also an Olympic Trial Bronze medalist.

He loved spending all his time with his children, hunting, fishing, camping and traveling.

Peter’s services were held at the Apache Junction St. George Catholic Church on August 18, 2009 and he was interred at the Mountain View Cemetery.

His families are now advocates of having proper colon testing. Peter never had any symptoms. He was only 46.
